Reboard: Embracing Innovation and Sustainability
Vancouver, BC – February, 2024- Alpha Select Production Services Inc., a leader in the film production industry, is always looking for innovative, time saving and safer products both for crew and the environment. Beverley Dondale CEO of Alpha Select was intrigued to discover the UK company Vectar Sets and immediately contacted them to collaborate because they aligned with our commitment to seeking out innovative, time-saving, and environmentally safer products for crew and the environment.
Beverley was immediately impressed by their offerings. Recognizing the potential benefits for Alpha Select and the broader film production community.
On February 9th, 2024 Alpha Select partnered with Malahat Nation to host an event that showcased our sustainable partners, all under one roof, to advance our Vancouver Island Film Studio. One of the highlights of the event was a riser and podium made from Reboard, a 100% recyclable paper product. The riser’s impressive performance during transport from the mainland to Vancouver Island, as well as throughout multiple presentations, demonstrated its durability and its potential to replace less recyclable materials.
In the ten days leading up to the event, Alpha Select took the initiative to rigorously test Reboard using techniques common in film production, particularly within the paint department. Since Reboard is relatively unknown in Canada, and neither Alpha nor Nordwerk (New Westminster’s supplier) had tested it before, we were breaking new ground. Despite having only seven days to work with the product, Reboard exceeded our expectations, both surprising and delighting us with its performance. The testing will continue with IATSE 891, building on our initial findings.
We invite you to check out the tests we conducted and view the photos of the results below.
